15th October 2014

All directly related to training taking place within the team, tonight saw twenty four team members all involved at our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ with preparation tasks in advance of this weekends Annual Foundation Course in Mountain Rescue which we not only organise but co-ordinate and host.

Other ‘jobs’ included administration tasks related to our 2014 Recruitment Intake for potential new operational members commencing next Thursday, 23rd October 2014, some essential maintenance jobs around our Base / HQ, and checking to ensure that all the search and rescue equipment on our four Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance vehicles was checked over, stored in the vehicles in its proper place and fully secured.

We also carried out some vehicle maintenance jobs fixing new mesh netting pockets to the cubby boxes of three of our Land Rovers, the previous fittings from new having been damaged in use requiring replacement.

We also welcomed this evening Peter Goble, Team Leader of Rossendale and Pendle MRT and a team colleague, who visited us on mountain rescue business, being met by our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE, and then our Equipment Officer – Medical Nigel Booth.

Once all works were done, and reflecting the times we now live in, team member and Trailing Dog Search Handler Steve Nelson, then presented to the team members attending, a 20 minute long DVD on the need to be alert and observant during these times of heightened terrorist alerts.
