Following the below, and very nearby, again on Chorley New Road, our Bolton Mobile 3 Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance vehicle which was returning from a short training exercise, and was at the time stationary in standing traffic, when a motorcyclist overtook our vehicle and other standing traffic and then subsequently was involved in an RTC.
Our Bolton Mobile 3 crew at 14.27hrs immediately became the first emergency responders on scene and rendered assistance, which also involved the off duty NWAS Paramedic from the previous incident (Incident 88)
The injured 18 year old male motorcyclist (from Leigh) had sustained a very serious lower left leg fracture, which was splinted by using one of our specialist vacuum splints.
Pain killing gas was also administered for the casualties painful injury.
NWAS (Manchester) EOC Parkway then requested that our vehicle transport the motorcyclist to Royal Bolton Hospital.
