This evening at 20.00hrs we welcomed to our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ four representatives from Bent and Bongs Charitable Trust, Tyldesley, Wigan.
They were visiting to hand over to the team a very large donation raised at the Bent and Bongs Beer Bash Festival in Tyldesley.
Attending were Sarah Bellis, Chair of the Beer Festival 2014, Chairman Paul Coggan, Secretary Steve Harrison and Founder member Michael Meyrick, all four from Bent and Bongs Charitable Trust.
They were welcomed by team member Mark Scott, Equipment Officer – Water David Cook, Equipment Officer – Base and Catering Paul Copley, Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE, and our Secretary and Support Group member Gillian Gregory.
A fantastic donation of £4,000.00 was handed over to Bolton Mountain Rescue Team, which by agreement with the Bent and Bongs Charitable Trust, has aided considerably the purchase of a new outboard engine for our 3.4 metre long SAR Boat (£975.00) replacement ‘charges’ – auto inflation, for our PFDs (Personal Flotation Devices) @ £300.00, and a very sizeable contribution to the overall purchase cost of new team waterproof jackets for all operational team members @ £11,000.00.
This a truly amazing sum of money, and we are all very thankful to Bent and Bongs Charitable Trust for supporting us in this kind manner, which will also directly benefit the people of Tyldesley, Atherton and Leigh, where we are often called upon to search for missing people and assist injured persons.
A dedication plate will shortly be fixed to our SAR Boat Outboard engine to acknowledge this very supportive donation, as will a dedication plaque to be commissioned for our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ recognising the support of Bent and Bongs Charitable Trust in the Bolton MRT.
