Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

14th November 2014

This Sunday, 16th November, commencing at circa 09.00hrs, with an exercise start on scene time of 10.30hrs, will be a mountain rescue exercise involving over seventy participants in various locations along the high moorland road between Rivington village and Belmont village in the West Pennine Moors.

A number of mountain rescue and search and rescue teams will be taking part alongside some allied organisations, in an exercise involving all participants in small groups responding to a number of incident scenarios in the many varied types of moorland terrain this location offers, from derelict farm building ruins, moorland quarries, a steep sided gully and moorland hillsides.

Confirmed MRT / SRT participation includes Bolton MRT, Rossendale and Pendle MRT, North East Wales Search and Rescue Team, Cheshire Search and Rescue Team and possibly Bowland Pennine MRT.

North West 4×4 Response and local Scouts are kindly acting out the role of exercise casualties.

A number of Doctors from Remote Medic UK are also attending, alongside visitors from United Utilities Ranger Service, GMP and Lancashire Constabulary.

It is also arranged –subject to operational considerations, to have the involvement of GMFRS Bolton North Community Fire Station on duty crew, and a helicopter from NPAS Warton.

Our Support Group will be providing full catering for this exercise.

The exercise RVP and co-ordination point will be the car park overlooking Wards Reservoir, Belmont, on the moorland road between Belmont village and Rivington village.
