Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

15th November 2014

This morning, whilst they were in attendance at the MREW meeting, at circa 09.45hrs, our Mountain Rescue Trailing Search Dog Handler Steve Nelson and his usual navigator Elaine Gilliland, both members of SARDA Wales, alongside their Bolton MRT membership, were called to lend their assistance to a developing search in the Oldham area.

Oldham MRT had been called out to search for a missing 76 years old male, a resident of Diggle, Oldham, who had gone missing from his home address around midnight on Friday 14th November.

With growing concern for his welfare GMP launched a search operation, with Oldham MRT leading the search effort, and calling upon the help of SARDA resources.

At circa 10.30hrs, just as Steve and Elaine had arrived at Steve’s Tottington home to collect Trailing Search Dog Boris, the good news was received that an Oldham MRT search party had located the missing man safe and well, and Steve, Boris and Elaine were quickly stood down.

Both Steve and Elaine then returned to the MREW meeting at Hutton, Preston, Lancashire (See website ‘News’ report dated the same)
