Further to our ‘News’ report of Wednesday 4th February 2015, when Richard Cage of the Ramblers Association Halton Group thanked us for our involvement in an incident involving their colleague Fred Miley, who sadly fatally collapsed on Spitlers Edge on Sunday 11th January 2015, we can now report on the receipt of a letter from Richard Cage to our Treasurer, Martin Banks, dated 4th February 2015 ;
“Dear Mr Banks.
On behalf of the Ramblers Association Halton Group, I would like to thank you for the invaluable service your team magnanimously provide to the public and in particular the service you provided on 11th January 2015 to our friend Fred Miley, who sadly died at Spitlers Edge and also for the comfort you extended to his party of ramblers.
As a donation from our group, and in memory of Fred Miley, we are pleased to enclose a cheque in the sum of £110.00 and a gift aid form so that you may reclaim a further £22.00 for your very worthy cause.
Yours sincerely, Richard Cage, On behalf of the Halton Group, Halton Group Walk Co-Ordinator.”
