Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

15th April 2015

On Monday evening, 13th April 2015, team member Diane Blakeley, Team Council member with responsibility for Headquarters and Catering, Paul Copley and Trainee team member Heath Doran visited Horwich Women’s Institute, at Horwich Conservative Club, on Church Street, Horwich.

They visited in one of the team’s four emergency Land Rovers, Bolton Mobile 2.

They were also joined by Diane’s mum Linda Blakeley, who as President of Ladybridge WI knows the Horwich WI President Chris Rigg and Secretary Audrey Callaghan, so went along as their guest.

Diane started with a presentation explaining about the work the team does, its history and some of our recent call outs.

The presentation included a range of images showing all aspects of our work.

Paul and Heath then explained and demonstrated some of the rescue and medical equipment we use including the Trauma Sac, defibrillator and vacuum splits.

It was then time for a lot of questions for the three team members with the ladies extremely interested in the wide variety of roles we do, many of which that they did not expect. We ended with further questions before taking the opportunity to chat with members over a cup of tea.

One of the team’s supporters Barbara Ronson who is involved with the Horwich Carnival of Racing that the team annually supports, also shared her pleasure at working with the team in the past.

We would like to thank all the members of Horwich Women’s Institute for their interest and support.

A thank you also to the lady who donated £30.00 on behalf of Horwich W.I. towards the teams work.

A beautiful handmade card which the President, Chris had made was also presented.
