This evening we hosted a visit to our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ by twenty four Bolton Sea Cadets and Royal Marine Cadets.
They were accompanied by their Cadet Leaders Anthony Smith and John Holmes, being met by Team trainee Air Scenting Search Dog Handler Jess Ellsmore (who had brought along Trainee air scenting search dog Blitz) and four of our Trainee team members ; Rasti Schweizer, heath Doran, Neil Haigh and Steve James.
They were initially welcomed by Jess who introduced the assembled Cadets and their Leaders to what we do by showing the newly released MREW video followed by our very own video compilation.
Those present were then split into three groups, covering Mountain Rescue Stretcher handling with Heath Doran and Steve James, vacuum splint application with Rasti Schweizer and Neil Haigh and casualty care and mountain rescue search dog usage with Jess Ellsmore and Blitz. The three groups regularly rotating so each group visited each station.
The very interested Cadets all enthusiastically took part in all the demonstrations and asked many questions.
The Cadets then took the opportunity to take multiple selfies in front of our Land Rover Defender Mountain Rescue Ambulance BM4 with full emergency lights a blazing.
All too soon their visit was over, with the Cadets of Bolton Sea Cadets and Royal Marine Cadets now being fully aware of our work within the local community, and also mountain rescue nationally.
