Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

18th April 2015

Early this morning five team members departed Bolton for a full days visit to Lyon Rescue at Old Tebay, Cumbria.

Attending were our Training Officer Alistair Greenough, Equipment Officer – Ropes and Stretchers Nigel Booth, Call Out list member John Dickinson, and Trainee team members Heath Doran and Gary Melia.

They met with Bill Batson of Lyon Rescue – a former long serving RAFMRS senior member and Cave Rescue Organisation team member, to look at and improve our ropes rescue techniques.

The day covered types of and use of lanyards, casualty pulley systems, use of fall protection devices, rope descenders and hauling systems.

The day was very informal but incredibly informative.

The plan is to take the key ideas and points from today and integrate them into our rope rescue systems.

The Bolton MRT and particularly the five team members who attended today, are incredibly grateful to Bill and Lyon Rescue Equipment for their time and use of their Tebay premises.

It was and is very much appreciated.
