Now held twice yearly, the GMESLG serves to unite all the statutory emergency Services working in Greater Manchester with the mountain rescue teams which assist them, discussing procedures, incidents, developments and items of mutual interest.
The participating organisations take their turn at hosting the meeting, and this evening Rossendale and Pendle MRT hosted the proceedings at their Clegg Street, Haslingden, Base / HQ.
In the absence of our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE, who was away on holiday, and normally attend these meetings, and our Deputy Team Leader Chris Greenhalgh, who was present on tonight’s standby rescue cover event, our team was ably represented by very long serving and experienced team member Dave Marsh.
The following were present or represented at tonight’s meeting; GMP Force Incident Control Room, GMP Missing Person Search Managers / GMP Tactical Aid Unit – Specialist Search Unit, Bolton MRT, Rossendale and Pendle MRT, Kinder MRT, Glossop MRT, Oldham MRT, and NWAS (Greater Manchester area)
Apologies were received from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
The meeting commenced at 19.30hrs which was also attended by Bolton MRT team member Michael Eddleston (in his capacity as a GMP Force Duty Manager)
The next scheduled GMESLG meetings will be Thursday 3rd December 2015, to be provisionally hosted by ourselves at our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ, and on Thursday 2nd June 2016 at a venue yet to be arranged.
