Every year the pupils, some of their parents and the teachers at Belmont Primary School, take part in a sponsored walk, which has raised over the years a very considerable sum of money for various charities, ourselves included.

This year’s money is to be used to buy a Defibrillator for the School and local village.

The route leads from the School up to the Winter Hill summit on the track from San Marino restaurant, then across the moorland past Smithills Shooting Hut to Scout Road, and after dropping down to Horrocks Fold, back to the School via Longworth Clough

Every year we do our best to be in a position to “watch over” the walk, and meet the children at various stages along the route with at least one of our team vehicles

Today Team Call Out list member Dave Cook (our Equipment Officer – Water) walked alongside all taking part for the entire route with his youngest son, who attends the school.

Also providing a watchful eye was our Team Chairman Craig Lamb, who met up with the walkers in our Land Rover “Bolton Mobile 2” at several locations along the way.

Taking part in the walk today was one of our “previous customers” – this being the casualty from our incident 35/2012 on Sunday 27th May 2012 – a mountain biker who had fallen from his bike resulting in badly lacerated thigh immediately above the knee – a painful and deep cut extending some 3.5 inches across.

After Bolton MRT casualty care, an Air Ambulance evacuation and several weeks of rest we can report the casualty has made a full recovery and is now back out enjoying the outdoors

Thankfully today there were no incidents except for a couple of blisters on one of the walkers feet with all returning safely to the School after completing a tough 11 miles of moorland walking.
