Our appreciated friends at East Lancs LDWA contacted us in April 2015, offering to encourage participants in their inaugural Red Rose 100 event – which was subsequently held over the Bank Holiday weekends of 2nd to 4th May and 23rd to 25th May 2015, to support Botlon Mountain Rescue Team by placing team collecting boxes at their event start and finish at the Anderton Centre, Adlington.
The first weekend saw support personnel and marshals walk the route in anticipation of the main event in late May which involved over 500 entrants.
Other than ‘awareness’ and a ‘watching brief’ the team had no direct involvement in either weekend, so the offer of support in raising funds for us was doubly appreciated.
We are now pleased to report that the two collecting boxes left with the organisers, raised £27.92p
Alison Wadsworth of East lancs LDWA also kindly passed on a wonderful £100.00 cheque donation from East Lancs LDWA Red Rose 100 to Bolton MRT, which came as a complete surprise to our Team Secretary Gillian Gregory, when she went to collect the two collecting boxes yesterday from Alison Wadsworth.
The entire Bolton MRT team membership would like to extend its kind thanks to all our fantastic supporters and friends within the Long Distance Walkers Association and particularly those within East Lancs LDWA.
