This evening with a great many of our team members assembling at our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ ready to journey to the Georges Lane RVP to provide standby rescue cover for this years annual Two Lads Fell Race, we received the news that the Fell Race had been cancelled with immediate notice, at the request of GMFRS due to a large scale moorland wildfire, threatening part of the race route.

With a huge smoke plume rising over the flanks of Winter Hill, and our Team Leader at the time in touch with the Fire Service over the teams likely support role involvement, this was hardly a surprise to us when news of the cancellation came.
