On Sunday 8th February 2015, we reported that further to our ‘News’ report of Wednesday 4th February 2015, when Richard Cage of the Ramblers Association Halton Group thanked us for our involvement in an incident involving their colleague Fred Miley, who sadly fatally collapsed on Spitlers Edge on Sunday 11th January 2015, we had received a very sincere £110.00 donation from The Ramblers Association Halton Group to the memory of Fred Miley.
We can now report that our Treasurer Martin Banks on Saturday 6th June 2015, received the following letter from The Ramblers Association Halton Group;
“Dear Mr Banks.
Re; Incident 20 / 2015 – Fred Miley – Spitlers Edge.
Further to our groups donation to your organisation in February, Fred’s widow passed Fred’s walking gear / GPS / Maps to our group to see if it could be of use to our members.
We auctioned the items and have raised £275 from the sale which we now enclose with a gift aid form.
We would be obliged if you could accept this donation as if it came directly from Margaret and send her a letter of appreciation.
Yours sincerely, on behalf of the Halton Group, Richard Cage, Halton Group Walk Coordinator.”
The entire team membership again extends its sincere thanks to all the members of the Ramblers Association Halton Group, for this very thoughtful donation made in the memory of their dear friend Mr Fred Miley.
We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Mrs Margaret Miley.
