This afternoon at 14.21hrs the team was contacted by NWAS (Greater Manchester Area) Parkway EOC via pager, to respond to an incident at Longsight Park, Bolton.

A 14 year old male, whilst cycling with a friend had fallen from his bike, sustaining suspected cervical injuries.

Two team vehicles were despatched immediately from the Prestwich Challenge Sunday Event we were providing standby rescue cover for (Leaving other team members to maintain and provide the cover for this event)

With eight team operational members on board, both Land Rover Defender Mountain Rescue Ambulances, arrived at the RVP, at 15.09hrs.

Here they met with responding NWAS emergency personnel who were already treating the teenager for his injuries.

The boys companion had firstly called his mother, following the accident, who in turn contacted the Ambulance Service.

Following on scene treatment by NWAS, at 15.34hrs the teenager had been placed on a long board, which was in turn placed on to our SAR Alpine Lite Mountain Rescue Stretcher, and the boy was evacuated back to the NWAS Ambulance by 15.45hrs.

He was subsequently taken to hospital for further treatment.

• NWAS (Greater Manchester Area); Parkway EOC, Rapid Response Vehicle – solo crew member, from Bolton Ambulance Station, and an Emergency Ambulance – two crew, from Bolton Ambulance Station.
• GMP; Force Duty Officer.
• Bolton Mountain Rescue Team; Two team Land Rover Defender Mountain Rescue Ambulances, radio call signs Bolton Mobile 2 and 4, eight team operational members directly involved on scene, two further team members involved in co-ordinating this emergency response.
