Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

Today very experienced team call out list member Ged Clarke, using our Land Rover Defender Mountain Rescue Ambulance Bolton Mobile 1, attended the Fun Day at Kings Church, Bury Road from 1-4pm.

This was part of the Kings’ #LoveDoes series of events happening throughout Bolton in the month of June. More than 800 people joined in the fun.

This was a family event, so many children climbed in and out of the vehicle, the younger ones enjoyed “Driving” and the older ones were able to use some of the basic splinting equipment with a couple experiencing the vacuum mattress and the quick-rescue stretcher.

Other attractions at the event were donkey rides, free inflatables, bouncy castles, church members dressed as Spiderman, Elsa (from Frozen) and other Disney princesses.

The event followed a fun run in Leverhulme Park which was enjoyed by more than 130 people, young and old alike.

Ged and his one man Bolton MRT display, were later joined by a fire appliance from Bolton North Community Fire Station, Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service, with Watch Manager  Nigel Booth in attendance (Regular readers will know Nigel is our Equipment Officer – Ropes and Stretchers)

All funds raised on the day (from the sponsored run and any donations at the fun day – although most activities were free) are going towards Bolton Hospice.

Chris Case, operations manager at Kings Church (whilst cleaning up after the donkey doo doo) said, “It’s really good to do a community event which involves others who support the community – the whole month of June has been devoted to giving back to the local community and it’s good to partner with others who have the same purpose”. http://www.kingschurchlife.com/
