This evening former operational team member Glyn McGann celebrated his fortieth birthday with a party at Rivington Bowling Club, Lever Park, Rivington.

Glyn who joined the team aged just sixteen, left the team in his early twenties to pursue a career in GMFRS, where he currently serves as a Watch Manager at GMFRS Horwich Community Fire Station.

Our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE attended from the current team, and with other former team members present, the good old days of Vern’s Heroes was recalled, with Big Vern himself (Garry our Leader) Ann Thompson (Garry’s partner and a former team member with nine years service) Lee ‘Bud’ Budworth, Paul ‘Shuttie’ Shuttleworth, Stuart Whiteley and of course Glyn himself.
