Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

10th July 2015

At 17.54hrs this very warm and sunny evening, the team was contacted via SARCALL pager by NWAS (Greater Manchester) Parkway EOC to assist at an incident in Hindley, involving a 14 year old male youth.

Our Deputy Team Leader Chris Greenhalgh contacted NWAS Parkway for more information, and sent a further more detailed full team pager call out at 18.04hrs, by which time response drivers were already en route to our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ to collect the two Land Rovers garaged there, with other members responding directly to scene.

The RVP was in the vicinity of Danes Avenue, Hindley, Wigan, and involved an incident at a nearby bridge system.

Three of our Land Rover Defender Mountain Rescue Ambulances responded, meeting on scene the responding NWAS crews and vehicles including a Rapid Response Vehicle, an Emergency Ambulance, and three HART vehicles.

Our Deputy Team Leader Chris Greenhalgh alongside colleague team member Nick Berry accessed the incident location, and with the arrival of assets from GMFRS, and given the casualty was ambulant, the use of GMFRS ladders enabled quick access to the casualty at circa 18.40hrs, and a rapid egress for the casualty from his predicament.

The youth involved was checked over in the NWAS Emergency Ambulance, and we understand thankfully did not require hospital admission.

A full team stand down page regarding this incident was made at 18.43hrs, with all our members and vehicles involved then heading back for our garages and home locations.

The following resources responded to this incident;

  •  NWAS (Greater Manchester area); Parkway EOC, one Rapid Response Vehicle – solo crew, one Emergency Ambulance – two crew, HART, three vehicles and crew members.
