Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

3rd September 2015

On Tuesday evening, 1st September, we played host to a visit to our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ by over twenty members from our valued friends and supporters at the Bolton and District Group of The Institute of Advanced Motorists.

Bolton and District Group IAM have supported the team since one of their members, Lyn Entwistle, (who was present tonight) came to grief breaking her ankle whilst on a walk in Tigers Clough (River Douglas Valley) in Rivington, on 14th July 2007, and being subsequently rescued by the team.

They were met by our Equipment Officer – Water – David Cook, team member John Dickinson and trainees Heath Doran and Steve James.

After a welcome and an introduction, Dave Cook opened proceedings by showing our assembled guests the latest Mountain Rescue England and Wales promotional video, followed by a look at the equipment carried by a team member, and then a presentation on the role and work of the team.

Also shown tonight was a video of the operational capabilities of our Drowned Victim Search Dog which received a great deal of interest and discussion.

All then went downstairs to view both our garaged Land Rover Defender Mountain Rescue Ambulances kept at our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ, with a look at and practical demonstrations of the comprehensive search and rescue equipment kept on board each vehicle – with trainees Heath and Steve showing off their new “Mountain Rescue” skills.

All at Bolton and District Group IAM were very interested in the work we do, and asked a host of questions.

At the conclusion of their evening visit, Bolton and District Group IAM presented to the team a marvellous cheque donation of £45.00 followed by an impromptu cash collection donation of a fantastic £105.00.

All at Bolton MRT wish to pass on sincere thanks to all our friends and supporters at Bolton and District Group of The Institute of Advanced Motorists for their very kind and thoughtful total donation of £150.00.
