On Thursday 3rd September 2015 we reported on our website that our Team President Bob Hutchinson, at the invitation of Mrs Katherine Pyle, President of Horwich Inner Wheel, was honoured to be the lunch time speaker at the meeting of Horwich Inner Wheel.
Bob Hutchinson’s full report on his visit is below:
“On Thursday 3rd September I went along to Ridgmont House to give a lunchtime talk about the work of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.
Arriving at 12 noon I was greeted by President Kathleen Pyle, who it was, as President, had chosen the Team to be one of the Inner Wheel’s charities for the coming year, 2015 to 2016.
Kathleen introduced me to Katie Maher (Secretary) and to Terry Mahindrakar (Vice President) who had the onerous task of looking after me – a duty which she performed admirably.
After a short while whilst the ladies dealt with some business we sat for lunch.
I must admit the food served at Ridgmont is excellent.
We were treated to a terrific fisherman’s pie with glazed vegetable medley followed by a delicious sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and chocolate sauce.
After the meal it was time for me to speak – I gave an account of how and why we have a Mountain Rescue Team in Bolton and an outline of the different types of jobs we did and answered the many questions from the audience.
Soon it was time to depart, I had been briefed that my talk should be 20 minutes but we overran that, hopefully not by too much to be a problem.
I left the Inner Wheel with an open invitation to arrange to visit our base and to contact our Secretary Gillian Gregory o arrange a date.
A thoroughly enjoyable visit (at least for me!).”
