On Sunday evening, 6th September 2015, a 69 year old man from Warrington, went missing from Grange Farm in Waberthwaite, Cumbria, after going out for a walk.
Cumbria Constabulary with mounting concern for his welfare, called upon a number of MRTs and associated search assets, to conduct a large scale search for this missing man.
The search which commenced on Sunday evening, lasted through until the evening of today, and included Duddon and Furness MRT, Wasdale MRT, Kendal MSRT, Coniston MRT, Kirkby Stephen MRT, SARDA Lake District, SARDA England, Cumbria Constabulary and An S92 SAR helicopter from HMCG Caernarfon.
At circa 02.00hrs this morning our Mountain Rescue Trailing Search Dog Handler Steve Nelson, his usual team colleague navigator Elaine Gilliland (both of SARDA Wales) readied themselves to respond with Trailing Search Dog Boris, to join this search operation.
They departed their Bolton home at 02.30hrs, and after a search briefing, commenced their search areas at 04.45hrs early this morning.
By 17.30hrs early this evening, they had finished their tasked areas and debriefing and were having a well deserved tea, finally returning home at 20.50hrs this evening.
It is understood at the time of writing this report, that the man is still missing after many hours of MRT / SARDA searching, assisted by local residents, with Police and search enquiries continuing.

Michael Griffiths, from Warrington, was last seen at Grange Farm, Waberthwaite, at approximately 6pm on Sunday September 6. He is described as white, approximately 5ft 8inches tall with short brown hair. He was last seeing wearing glasses, a green waterproof hiking jacket, black waterproof trousers and hiking boots. Mr Griffiths suffers from Alzheimer’s and had gone out for a walk. Police are concerned for his wellbeing and appeal to anyone who may have seen Mr Griffiths to get in touch.
