This evening team members departed our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ and GMFRS Bolton North Community Fire Station garage, in all four of our Land Rovers and our Incident Control Vehicle, at the slightly earlier ‘start’ time of 19.00hrs, journeying to LFRS Darwen Fire Station for a familiarity / awareness evening with LFRS Darwen Fire crews.
Upon arrival we found out (via a note pinned to the Fire station door!) that all the firefighters had left to go to a house fire, with apologies for not being there to greet us.
We quickly reconvened to the new location of Batridge Road Car Park at Turton and Entwistle Reservoir, and taking advantage of the beautiful starlit night, decided unanimously on an evening walk around Turton and Entwistle Reservoir.
We were rewarded with an excellent moon rise over the surrounding low hills with some fantastic moonlight reflections in the perfectly still waters of this large reservoir.
In all twenty team operational members enjoyed tonight’s moonlit walk.
Meanwhile this same evening, elsewhere, our Trailing Search Dog Handler Steve Nelson and Elaine Gilliland were carrying out some of their own training with Trailing Search Dog Boris.
Hopefully we’ll be able to rearrange our visit to LFRS Darwen Fire Station soon.
