17th October 2015

Yesterday, Friday 16th October, our DVSD Search Dog Handler Dave Marsh was placed on standby to provide his specialist search dog assistance to a search operation developing within the South Yorkshire Police region, regarding a missing 27 year old woman, in  circumstances giving Police concern for her whereabouts since her disappearance two weeks ago.

Today, at 08.00hrs Dave along with his DVSD Search Dog Sasha, departed the Bolton area for the search RVP near Doncaster, after being mobilised to assist in the search.

There follows Dave’s account of todays search operation, in the Potteric Carr Nature Reserve area near Doncaster;

“I was contacted by SARDA England Air Scenting Dog Handler Ken Sloan on Friday at 13-00 hrs who indicated that a search was on going centred at Potteric Carr Nature Reserve, Doncaster, map ref CE 5892 0071.

I was to contact the search controller, a John Halstead at circa 14-00 hrs which is what I did.

I was asked to attend at 10-00hrs on Saturday 17/10/15 to meet up with the POLSA – a Sergeant from South Yorkshire Police.

Leaving my Bolton home at 08.00hrs, I arrived at 09-15hrs to meet up with Ken Sloan and his navigator Paul.

Whilst awaiting the arrival of the POLSA we commenced our search areas allocated at 10.35hrs.

Mine were the numerous water features in part of the reserve which had not been searched previously.

A bank search was undertaken by myself working with Sasha.

I completed my allocated search areas by 12-30hrs.

Following a de brief with Ken Sloan, I travelled back home, arriving back in Bolton at 16.00hrs.

The information  was passed onto the search control by Paul, for updating into the overall planning for the continuation of the search planned for Sunday 18th October (which is scheduled to include some PDMRO MRTs and two ALSAR teams undertaking a search of numerous areas not previously searched.”
