Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

On Saturday evening, 12th December our Mountain Rescue Trailing Search Dog Handler Steve Nelson, Trailing Search Dog Boris and their usual Navigator Elaine Gilliland, were placed on standby to assist Police Scotland with a search for a missing man.

The missing 52 year old man was reported to Police, as missing from his home, at Culgruff House Hotel, Crossmichael, since Friday 11th December 2015.

Police Scotland and Galloway Mountain Rescue Team, amongst other search assets, were then called to locate the missing man.

This morning at circa 08.30hrs, Steve, Elaine and Boris, all departed their Bolton home to join in the search.

Travelling north to arrive at the Search RVP for 11.00hrs, they were all stood down responding at 10.45hrs some 14 miles from their intended destination.

Steve, Elaine and of course Boris, all took the opportunity to then journey earlier than intended to Wasdale Head, in the Lake District, where tomorrow they are due to undertake some helicopter training with thanks to our colleagues in LDSAMRA (Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association)

Police Scotland later on Sunday 13th December 2015, announced the sad news that the body of a man had been located
