This evening team members Steve Fletcher, Mike Marsh and Paul Brain traveled from our Ladybridge Hall base to the Britannia Hotel, just down the road from us in Bolton, to present a lecture to approximately 30 members at the regular meeting of the Bolton Wireless Club.
Steve is the team’s current Equipment Officer (Communications & Lighting), and both Paul and Mike have previously occupied this technical post.
The trio presented a lecture on the work of the team and also the radio communication and mobilisation technologies in use, which was of particular interest to the members of the wireless club. A few familiar faces were spotted in the room, as the Bolton MRT works alongside members of RAYNET (the radio amateur’s emergency network) on several annual safety covers (namely the recent Anglezarke Amble, and April’s forthcoming Pike View Hike scout event.)
A huge number of questions were asked (and hopefully well answered!), and Steve, Mike and Paul, before the group were shown around two of the team’s vehicles parked outside – one of our frontline response Land Rover ambulances, BM3, and our Command, Control and Communications vehicle, BM6.
At the end of the lecture, the wireless club kindly donated £25 to team funds, along with a further £10 personal donation from one of the club members.
Steve, Mike and Paul would like to thank the members of Bolton Wireless Club for inviting them to tonight’s lecture.
