Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

15th March 2016

Bolton MRT has benefitted for nearly two years now, from the fantastic sponsorship provided by VARTA Consumer Batteries to all teams within Mountain Rescue England and Wales.
VARTA Consumer Batteries, are a leading manufacturer of torches, portable charging devices and consumer batteries, and have previously supplied a combination of its state-of-the-art torches and batteries to Bolton MRT, as well as delivering on going fundraising support.
To mark this partnership, VARTA, which is listed in a number of high street UK retailers including Argos, B&Q , Tesco and Robert Dyas, has included the MREW logo on selected product point-of-sale marketing, raising awareness of MREW’s work beyond its core support group of outdoor enthusiasts.
Our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE in regards to this continuing partnership stated:
“Our work relies on the support and generosity of the UK public at large and businesses like VARTA to survive.
It costs a tremendous amount to fund and kit-out a mountain rescue team and we’re incredibly grateful to VARTA for its continuing support, both product-based and financial.
Part of the global Spectrum Brands (UK) Limited group, which also features the Remington, Russell Hobbs and Rayovac brands, VARTA Consumer Batteries holds the number one position for consumer battery sales volume in a number of major European markets.
We are very pleased today to announce the receipt of another, the latest, equipment donation from VARTA, namely a number of high performance torches and some battery packs.
These have been kindly donated to us by VARTA for our own fund raising or publicity purposes, with the donation consisting of;
  • 1x 3W LED High Optics Torch, 3AAA battery type.
  • 1x 3W LED High Optics Torch, 2AA battery type.
  • 1x 4W LED High Optics Torch, 3C
  • 2x 1W LED Outdoor Sports Head Torches, 3AAA Battery type.
  • 3x small size portable lithium battery power packs, of differing power supply / output.
The entire team membership wishes to place on record its thanks to VARTA Consumer Batteries for this their latest kind donation.
