Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

15th March 2016

This morning, our Equipment Officer – Stretchers and Ropes Nigel Booth, took personal delivery of a brand new Lyon Bell Tangent Split Mountain Rescue Stretcher, which was handed over to the team at Lyon Equipment Limited, Tebay, Cumbria.
This new latest generation mountain rescue stretcher, has a lineage, much developed and considerably improved upon, stretching back to the original Bell Mark 1 of mid 1970s vintage.
In service, it will replace the Bell Mark 2 (modified) Mountain Rescue Stretcher that we recently retired after 30 years and 8 months service with us.
We will report in 2047 whether this ‘new’ Bell Tangent outlives its predecessor!
The total purchase cost of £3,800.00 for this new stretcher purchase, has been met by a very kind 50% funding donation by our parent body – Mountain Rescue England and Wales.
The Bolton MRT would like to acknowledge the assistance and advice given by our MREW National Secretary and our MREW National Equipment Officer, alongside that of Lyon Equipment Limited, that has enabled us to obtain and purchase this new stretcher.
