The team was contacted by NWAS control to assist with the evacuation of a female with a lower leg injury from the grounds of Haigh Hall who had been dog walking when she fell.
The Saturday evening had been a meal to celebrate former team leader Garry Rhodes’ 27 years as team leader and so many of the team were unavailable due to the evenings festivities. Therefore assistance was requested from one of our neighbouring teams, Bowland Pennine MRT who kindly provided extra resources. Many of their team members live just on the border between the team areas and so were in an excellent position to help.
Between the 2 teams the lady was splinted and evacuated approx. 400m to the ambulance where she was taken to the royal albert Edward infirmary in Wigan for treatment.
A huge thanks to both Bowland Pennine and Rossendale & Pendle MRT’s who both agreed to give up their Saturday evening to provide mutual cover for us to allow team members to attend and celebrate Garry’s time as team leader.
