Today, team members Steve James, John Dickinson, Neil Haigh and Gary Melia supported Belmont Primary School in their sponsored walk round Winter Hill.
The route leads from the School up to the Winter Hill summit on the track from San Marino restaurant, then across the moorland past Smithills Shooting Hut to Scout Road, and after dropping down to Horrocks Fold, back to the School via Longworth Clough
Every year we do our best to be in a position to “watch over” the walk, and meet the children at various stages along the route with at least one of our team vehicles. Team members John Dickinson, Neil Haigh and Gary Meila all walked part of the way over the moorland section, with Steve James driving our Bolton Mobile 3 vehicle to various points.
49 participants walked the short version of the walk, with a brave 46 undertaking the longer version (around 11 miles). A quick stop at the McGuinness Ice Cream Parlour saw the team depart and the walkers continue to finish their walk.
The team have supported this event for a number of years and half of the sponsorship raised this year will be donated to the team. The weather was fair and the rain held off. Congratulations to all who completed the walk.
