Today the team has assisted NWAS with three incidents.
Three team members were at our Ladybridge Hall base when the first call arrived. This call was to assist Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue Team with an incident in the Rochdale area. A female walker had a dislocated query fracture of her knee. Whilst the vehicles were en route North West Air Ambulance landed to assist with the onward journey for the patient. This was fortunate as the responding vehicles received details of an incident in our own area. A couple of Bolton members assisted Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue Team to carry the casualty to the waiting helicopter.
The crew who first responded waited around the Whitefield area of Greater Manchester to receive confirmation of where the next casualty was. They were fortunate to be local to the incident involving a mountain biker who had become unseated on the “red” mountain bike route at Phillips Park. Our Mountain Rescue Ambulance arrived shortly before the responding NWAS ambulance. The mans friends guided the crew to his position on the course. The ambulance crew managed to assist the man to the waiting ambulance where they treated a severe gash to the mans leg.
Following the conclusion of the Phillips Park incident the first responding Land Rover ambulance and crew headed back to our LBH base/HQ. They got within 200 metres of our base when the next Callout to assist with an incident in the Greenmont area. It was our turn to request assistance from our neibouring team, Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue Team. The crews met the NWAS staff who guided the team on a 10 minute walk to the next casualty location. A female had been playing on a rope swing and had fallen awkwardly. The girl was transferred into our vacuum mattress to support the girl, then transferred to a stretcher. She was carried through a stream, up a slippy slope to the waiting ambulance, all the while the girls friend and mother took photos to show her once she makes a full recovery.
