Due to limited availability of members during normal working hours, Bolton Mountain Rescue has an agreement with Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue Team for monitoring each others callouts.
At 13:04 today Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue Team (RPMRT) received a call to assist the North West Ambulance Service with a casualty in the Syke area of Rochdale. The female had been walking when she suffered a fall, damaging her knee, requiring a stretcher carry.
Three team members were already at our Ladybridge Hall Base/HQ and were able to respond immediately in one of our Land Rover Ambulances. As the team were on route, Rossendale and Bolton members reported the Air Ambulance had landed on scene, but the vehicle should continue at normal road speeds towards the incident should the air ambulance be unable to take the casualty.
Whilst the team continued its journey to the incident location, they received information regarding a casualty in the teams area (see incident 80/2016), so abandoned the response to assist RPMRT.
Shortly after the casualty was evacuated by the air ambulance.
