Four team members Chairman Gill Leigh, John Dickinson, Diane Blakeley and Matthew Morris along with two members of our Support Group Iain Clarkson and Bob Melia spent a few hours pulling pints of real ale and filling glasses with a range of ciders at the Edgworth Real Ale Festival (ERAF).
The organisers of the ERAF have generously supported the team by donating half the funds raised from the event in 2009 and 2010.
This wonderful support led to the purchase of the teams rescue boat, which was heavily used this winter.
It was with great delight that we learnt that they are kindly donating half the money raised this weekend to Bolton MRT. So to say thank you for this continued and wonderful support we manned the bar for a couple of hours on Saturday afternoon.
After a quick lesson in how to pour the pints the eager group set to the task in hand of serving the many customers, whilst listening to the music of the Blackburn and Darwen Band. There were over 50 beers, a wide range of ciders and wine available and it took our members a little while to get to grips with the wide variety.
Just as we came to the end of our shift, the team pagers went and the four operational members left to head to assist Rossendale Team on a call out.
A massive thank you to everyone involved with organising the event, those volunteering over the weekend and everyone who has attended. Thanks also to the Blackburn & Darwen Band who entertained us and will be back again tomorrow between 2pm and 4pm.
