In the Lead Mines Valley, Anglezarke there sits a memorial stone to the aircrew of a crashed bomber whilst on a training mission on 16th November 1943.
The service is organised by Chorley Ramblers who lead the service, incorporating the Australian National Anthem as well as the British National Anthem to commemorate the Australian pilot of the flight, Joseph Timperon.
The service attracted in excess of 150 people to this years service including 24 personnel from Bolton Mountain Rescue. Hymns were sung and this year the poem “Our Joe” had been recorded by a professional voice coach by Chorley Ramblers and was broadcast to the congregation.
