Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

This evening saw the latest meeting of the Lancashire Emergency Radio Network, hosted by Ribble Valley Borough Council in Clitheroe.

The meeting had representatives from Lancashire County Council, Blackburn with Darwen Council, other Borough Councils across Lancashire, RAYNET and Lancashire Constabulary. The three Mountain Rescue teams who cover Lancashire, Bowland Pennine MRT, Rossendale & Pendle MRT and Bolton MRT were also represented.

The meeting was led by Chris Shuttleworth from Ribble Valley Borough Council, who ran through a presentation on the future of providing resilience to the radio network across Lancashire. There were also presentations from a lecturer from Lancaster looking to develop a resilient network following the Lancaster Floods in 2015. Lancashire Constabulary gave the group an update on where the Emergency Services Network, the replacement to Airwaves, is up to. A company also presented who provide satellite communications capability.

Bolton Mountain Rescue would like to thank Chris Shuttleworth for the invitation to the meeting, the three Mountain Rescue Teams are looking to provide a joint response in supporting the Lancashire Emergency Radio Network.
