This afternoon, our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE, met up with GMFRS Station Commander, Bolton Central Fire Station, Steve Parkinson, Alison Grundy, Countryside Ranger with Bolton MBC and representatives from Bolton MBC, to discuss the ‘Get Active’ event scheduled to be held in Queen’s Park, Bolton, on Sunday 29th July 2012, starting at 12.00 noon.

Queen’s Park has recently undergone a full restoration back to its former glory, including a fantastic new children’s play area, landscape and path works, and a brand new excellent cafe / pavilion.

A massive range of entertainments will be available on the day, from live music and bands, a fairground, street art and sideshows to mountain biking, a climbing wall, grass sledging, face painting, and displays of vehicles and equipment by Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.

With just one month left to go todays meeting was to finalise display positions and some of the events taking place on the day.

Bolton Mountain Rescue Team will have all five of our Emergency Vehicles on display, alongside our SAR Boat, Control Trailer and search and rescue equipment on show.

We will also be carrying out water search and rescue displays in the newly landscaped lake.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service will have a wide range of current fire appliances on show, their popular ‘kitchen fire’ demonstration unit, and a vintage Fire Engine from the GMFRS Fire Museum.

GMFRS will also be carrying out free CPR training throughout the day at the cafe / pavilion, as part of their ‘Heartstart’ public information / teaching programme.
