On Thursday 17th October last year (2013) we reported within our website that we were very pleased to announce the extremely generous donation to Bolton Mountain Rescue Team of £1,500.00 from a fundraising adventure at the time by staff (and their friends) of the Go Outdoors store at Wigan.
The staff at Go Outdoors, Wigan, had very kindly decided alongside some of their friends, to undertake a fundraising cycle ride from the Wigan store to the Go Outdoors Inverness, Scotland store, over seven days in September 2013, with monies raised going directly to supporting the work of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.
At Go Outdoors, Wigan, two current Bolton MRT team members are on the retail staff, namely very long serving team member Chris Tennant and Nick Berry.
(At Go Outdoors Manchester store, we have another staff link in Mark Lloyd, who formerly worked with our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE together for twenty five years up to their joint redundancy in January 2012, and in the past has often acted as an ‘exercise casualty’ for the Bolton MRT)
The entire Bolton MRT membership extended its sincere thanks at the time to all at Go Outdoors, Wigan, (And their friends who also took part) for undertaking this fantastic fundraising venture to support Bolton MRT.
Today just over a year later, and somewhat belatedly (very unusual for us) we have formally acknowledged this kindness by presenting a plaque of appreciation to Go Outdoors, Wigan.
Team member Matthew Hailwood visited the store today to hand over the plaque, taking along our Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance, radio call sign ‘Bolton Mobile 1.’
The plaque was accepted by Go Outdoors, Wigan, staff member Nick Berry, who is of course also a Bolton MRT team member.
