At 19:55 this evening the team was contacted by Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service to assist with an incident near Wilton quarries, Belmont.
GMFRS had responded to a call for assistance from NWAS, crashed through the barriers on Scout Road and then travelled some distance down the steep hillside above the Wilton Arms Public House.
Initially GMFRS responded to a report of a car on fire but upon arrival established that there was no fire and one seriously injured occupant was in the vehicle.
Members of the public were already on scene assisting NWAS resources and because of the location of the vehicle, GMFRS called out the team.
As the team was responding GMFRS, NWAS and GMP resources evacuated the seriously injured male occupant just as the first team members arrived.
With the possibility of passengers having been thrown clear in the accident, GMFRS and the Police helicopter undertook a search of the area with the intention of the team undertaking a more detailed search.
It was quickly established that the only person involved was the injured occupant and we were stood down along with other resources at 20:23 hours.

- Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service; three pump appliances from Bolton North and Bolton Central Fire Stations
- North West Ambulance Service (Manchester); one solo crewed Emergency Response Vehicle, one Emergency Ambulance with two crew
- North West Ambulance HART Team, full team deployment
- North West Air Operations Group (Police) helicopter; GMP India 99
- Bolton MRT; Three team Land Rover Ambulance Vehicles, 13 members on scene prior to stand-down with a further 17 members stood down responding to this incident
This was a major multi-agency response to a serious incident.
