On Wednesday 10th December 2014, Peter Quinn, who organises ukcharityaid.com, kindly gave up his free time and travelled from Atherton to sing Christmas songs in Lower Peel Avenue at the intu Trafford Centre to raise funds for Bolton Mountain Rescue Team. Peter Quinn and his group of voluntary singers spend many hours singing in shopping malls and outside in town centres throughout the North West, and have raised over £200,000 for various worthy causes.
At the Trafford Centre, our Team President Bob Hutchinson, Support Group members Amanda Strickleton and Gillian Gregory, who is also our Team Secretary, and trainee operational team member Gary Melia, all went along (not to sing – we hasten to add – as we did not wish to cause a mass stampede by customers to the exits!) but to support Peter and his helper, Ian. As shoppers passed by down the mall doing their Christmas shopping, they were treated to “White Christmas”, “Frosty the Snowman” and many other festive songs with many kindly dropping donations into our collection buckets and stopping for a chat. As a result, a total of £320.65 was raised towards our work.
We would like to thank the Events Department of the intu Trafford Centre for allowing us to fundraise in this way, to Peter and Ian for their generous and selfless support, and, of course, the kind shoppers who showed such generosity.
