Today at 11.00hrs, 24x team call out list members and 4x trainee team members, met at our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ for our monthly Vehicles, Trailers, SAR Boat and Base / HQ Valet and vehicles checks, Search and Rescue equipment checks.
Regardless of our routine checks and cleaning that takes place after every use of our Base / HQ and our vehicles and kit, we still carry out this more comprehensive ‘day’ the last Sunday in every month.
Today as the late morning progressed, the rain turned to snow, becoming quite heavy at times, with team members valiantly carrying on in the weather conditions, pressure jetting / washing all six of our team vehicles.
Visiting us today was our friend Howard Buckley of North West 4×4 Response, who came to chat to our Equipment Officer – Vehicles Neil Aspinall (himself a former member of an off road club) about some of our routine checks we carry out on our Land Rovers.
Afterwards nine team members then went out in to our team moorland operational area, in two of our Land Rover Defender Mountain Rescue Ambulances and our Incident Control vehicle for some driver training, team area awareness and to check out some future training exercise locations.
As the day progressed the snow turned to sleet and then rain at lower levels, with the higher moorland still under snow.
