At 15.21hrs this very warm and sunny afternoon, we were paged by NWAS (Greater Manchester) EOC Parkway, to assist an NWAS Emergency Ambulance crew on scene, at Bradshaw Fisheries, with a 65 years old woman from Little Lever, who had stumbled, sustaining a suspected fractured lower leg.
With team members co-incidentally at our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ and our GMFRS Bolton North Community Fire Station Garage, two team Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulances and team members made a quick response.
By 15.45hrs team members were at the casualty site, where the NWAS crew had splinted the woman’s injured leg, and she was placed on to a mountain rescue specialist stretcher, and evacuated by the NWAS crew and Bolton MRT members to the waiting NWAS Emergency Ambulance for onward transfer to hospital.
Thanks are expressed to the members of the public who assisted by carrying some of our rescue equipment back form the casualty site.
In total seven team members were involved on scene with the NWAS crew, with our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE co-ordinating our response.
A further four team members were stood down responding.
