Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

27th May 2015

Readers will recall our report with sadness, that following a long illness, Mrs Joan Charles, passed away on Friday 10th April, aged 71 years.

Joan, along with her husband Len – who survives Joan, were both members of our Support Group in the late 1980s and in to the 1990s, and continued to lend their full support to the team up to current times.

The full and sincere condolences of the team were expressed at the time to Joan’s family, including her husband Len, daughter and current serving team member Gill Leigh, her husband and former team member and ex Deputy Team Leader Ian Leigh, Joan and Len’s other daughter Kath, and other family members, friends and colleagues.

Very kindly and thoughtfully in support of the team, donations in lieu of flowers at Joan’s funeral of Monday 20th April 2015, were requested to Bolton MRT to honour the memory of Joan.

On 2nd May 2015, we received a very thoughtful £20.00 donation from Mr Michael Lee and Mrs Anne Lee of Horwich, in memory of Joan Charles.

Today we can announce that via Howarth’s Funeral Service, we have received a further thirty seven very thoughtful and sincere cash and cheque donations, totalling an amazing £905.00, which now gives a grand total of £925.00 donated in Joan’s memory.

These donations all serve to truly reflect how Joan’s wonderful life has been honoured by her family and many friends and colleagues in this thoughtful and very kind manner.

It is only fitting that we have decided to honour Joan’s support and contribution to Bolton Mountain Rescue Team by erecting a plaque dedicated to her memory in our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ

Please see website ‘News’ reports of Sunday 2nd November, Sunday 9th November and Wednesday 10th December, all 2014, at which the team took part in a little surprise for Joan and Len at their Golden Wedding Anniversary celebrations, which also raised a considerable donation to the work of the Bolton MRT, Tuesday 14th April, Monday 20th April and Saturday 2nd May 2015.
