Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

26th May 2015

On Tuesday 24th February 2015, our Team President Bob Hutchinson journeyed to the evening meeting of Ramsbottom Soroptimists, who had invited him along to speak about the work of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.

Having served in the team as a Team Leader and Chairman, and having joined many many years ago, Bob was able to regale all present with his tales of his long service in the team since the early 1980s.

Bob had been invited by team friend and valued supporter, Ann Bennett, President (Elect) of Ramsbottom Soroptimists, to the meeting which was held at Red Hall Hotel, Manchester Road, Walmersley, Bury.

Following on form this meeting, Bob was invited back by Ramsbottom Soroptomists this evening, to their Charity Cheque Donation Presentation Evening.

Bob Hutchinson reports:

“I was greeted by President Ann Bennett who is a long standing friend of the Team having supported us in a previous incarnation as Headmistress of Edgeworth Primary School.

Ann was very proud that this year the Soroptomists had raised far more than usual for charitable causes, and were able to distribute the absolutely magnificent sum of £1,500.00 between five deserving charities.

Besides Bolton MRT, cheques were presented to Jigsaw (a charity mainly supporting young disabled, but also provides one to one visiting support to older disabled), and both Bury and Rossendale Hospices.

A fifth cheque was not able to be presented as the recipient (unknown to myself) was not present.

Bolton Mountain Rescue Team are truly humbled to be included amongst this evenings beneficiaries and warmly thank the Soroptimists for their kind generosity.

Ann expressed a wish that the £300.00 so generously donated to us be put towards the purchase of a new training mannequin which she had seen on our website as a priority training aid.”

The thanks of all Bolton MRT members are expressed to Ann Bennett and all the members of Ramsbottom Soroptomists for their very kind and appreciated support of the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.
