Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

18th June 2015

This fine early summer evening twenty seven Team Call Out list members, in our four Land Rover Defender Mountain Rescue Ambulances and our Minibus / Crewbus Ambulance, provided standby rescue cover for the annual Aggies Staircase Fell Race, organised by Darwen Dashers Running Club, which takes in a route over Darwen Moor and the Jubilee Tower, including the very steep path section above Stepback Brook, known as Aggies Staircase.

Our participation was controlled by our Training Officer Alistair Greenough, assisted by trainee member Heath Doran (radio and radio log practice) from our Incident Control Vehicle, which was parked up at the Roddlesworth Information Centre, and in constant liaison with team members Mark Scott and Chris Tennant at the event Start and Finish in Darwen.

Thankfully the sun stayed shining, the midges stayed away, and in mild conditions some 116x runners set off, with all but one finishing in tonight’s event which passed very quickly and thankfully without incident.

The team is very happy to be invited to support our valued friends in Darwen Dashers Running Club in this and other local events organised by them.
