At 22:23 this evening, the team was paged by NWAS Manchester Emergency Control Centre who were requesting our assistance at an unfolding incident in the Darcy Lever area of Bolton.

A 999 call had been received a short time earlier with the report of an injured male underneath a bridge in the bounds of the disused railway near to Gorses Road, Darcy Lever.

Deputy Team Leader Geoff Seddon mobilised the team at 22:27; with a quick response from the team resulting in the first vehicle mobilising at 22:38, and our first team member, Dave Marsh (who lives local to the incident location) arriving on scene at 22:31.

BMRT and the NWAS HART team working together to raise the casualty

Team members worked alongside the NWAS HART (Hazardous Area Response Team) from Trafford, Manchester, utilising rescue equipment from both organisations to quickly raise the injured male to the top of the embankment and into the waiting NWAS Emergency Ambulance, which left the scene for Royal Bolton Hospital at 23:15.

At total of 22 Bolton MRT members were involved in this incident with a further 4 team members stood down responding. Also involved were a number of GMP Divisional Officers. This incident was typical of the excellent working relationship between GMP Officers, NWAS ambulance crews, NWAS HART, the NWAS ECC and Bolton MRT.
