Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

23rd September 2015

On Sunday 17th May 2015 we reported within the ‘News’ section of our website, that on Saturday 16th May 2015, young Chloe Southworth and her mum Karen Southworth called briefly at our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ, meeting team member and former Team Chairman Ken Oakes, presenting him with a very kind cheque donation of £25.00 from Chloe, arising from some fundraising at school split between some pupils chosen charities.

Chloe’s mum Karen informed us at this time that Chloe had another fundraiser planned soon, a 40s night, again in support of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.

Regular readers will be aware via our website that on Good Friday 2014, the team came to the rescue of Chloe Southworth, who suffered a serious leg injury on Rivington Pike whilst enjoying the sunny day with her father, uncle and cousin.

Chloe was immediately tended to by team members on the day, and was flown to hospital by the North West Air Ambulance (Please see website ‘News’ report dated Good Friday, 18th April 2014).

Since her accident that day, Chloe has very kindly offered to support the North West Air Ambulance and Bolton Mountain Rescue Team charities in her role as Rose Queen for 2014-2015 at St. Peter’s Church in Chorley.

On Saturday evening 5th September 2015, Chloe held her Vintage and World War 2 Wartime themed evening at St Peter’s club, Chorley, with the aim of raising funds for her favourite charities, namely ourselves, St Peter’s – her Church, and via a ‘Just Giving’ page, the North West Air Ambulance.

The evening featured local vocalist Becky Chamberlain, with Chloe herself singing four songs, dancing, themed Fancy Dress, a raffle, hotpot supper and a wartime sing a long.

Chloe received some fantastic support in turn from local businesses who assisted with the evening.

This evening, Wednesday 23rd September, Chloe, now aged thirteen, in the company of her mum, Karen, visited us at our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ at 18.30hrs to tell us about the success of her latest fundraiser and to hand over to us yet another incredibly kind donation.

Chloe and her mum were met by our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE and thirteen other team members, who warmly welcomed both.

Chloe announced she had raised the fantastic sum of £455.00 at this latest fundraiser, handing over to the team a donation of £180.00, with other proceeds from the money raised going to support St Peter’s and the North West Air Ambulance.

Chloe’s latest donation was accepted on behalf of the team by long serving team member Gillian Leigh.

Chloe brought along a camcorder recording of her evening, which team member Michael Wakerley immediately transferred to our Base / HQ wide screen monitor, so Chloe’s singing and dancing performance got its ‘Big Screen’ debut.

As our other evening visitors from Lostock Athletics Club and Horwich Festival of Racing also arrived, they too watched the film of Chloe’s fundraiser evening, and joined in congratulating her on her support of worthy causes.

We all acknowledge the absolutely fantastic effort Chloe is going to, along with her many supporters to in turn support us,the NWAA, and her Church, what an amazing feat for this young girl, supported by her mum, dad and family.

Obviously all the team membership wishes to thank Chloe for her continuing tremendous support of both ourselves, the North West Air Ambulance and her Church.
