This evening commencing at 20.00hrs our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE, Elaine Gilliland and Steve Nelson, jointly attended the late summer Business meeting of the MPSRO – Mid Pennine Search and Rescue Organisation, our regional mountain rescue body.
Representatives were present from Bowland Pennine MRT (3x) Rossendale and Pendle MRT (5x) Holme Valley MRT (1x) Cave Rescue Organisation (2x) Bolton MRT (3x) and SARDA (1x) at the meeting which was held at its usual venue of the Clegg Street, Haslingden, Base / HQ of RPMRT.
Under the usual excellent Chairmanship of Keith Gillies, the meeting discussed items of a local, regional and national significance, as well as updates from MREW national committees and directions, and training issues.
Topics included reimbursement expenses on MPSRO related business, the MPSRO hosting of the Mountain Rescue Princes Charity Day provisionally scheduled for June 2016, recent SAR – H HMCG SAR helicopter training and matters referring to mountain rescue casualty care training, amongst a great many other items.
Within the team ‘news updates’ section, came notice that very experienced BPMRT / SARDA England Mountain Rescue Air Scenting Search Dog Handler Alison Nicholson, had retired her Search Dog Floss from operational duties, after a great many years of being available and responding to search and rescue incidents.
The meeting concluded at circa 22.00hrs, with the final leavers going at 22.10hrs.
