In June of 2011, Bolton Mountain Rescue Team Call Out list member Kris Kilshaw approached our Team Leader to ask whether it would be possible to use one of the team vehicles for his brother’s local wedding procession to transport the Bridesmaids and Best Man from the Chapel to the Reception.
Greg Kilshaw, an avid LandRover enthusiast, had arranged for his own Land Rover to be the mode of transport for the Bride and Groom after the wedding ceremony and was keen to have something ‘spectacular’ to drive alongside them.
This afternoon, Team Training Officer Elaine Gilliland, travelled in team Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance vehicle ‘BM1’ to the nearby Smithills Chapel where Greg was marrying Sophie at 13:00 hrs. Arriving at the Chapel for 13:45 hrs as arranged, the vehicle was available for guests to see as they exited the Chapel and to be part of the wedding photographs in a line up with Greg’s own Land Rover 110 Utility Vehicle, at which the photographer commented ‘Well, this is a first.’
After the requisite photo’s, Best Man, Kris, two Bridesmaids and an Usher climbed into BM1 and were transported from the Chapel to the Reception, following Greg and the new Mrs Sophie Kilshaw in their Land Rover adorned with traditional ribbons, bows and beer cans attached to the rear.
On delivery at the Reception, Greg and Sophie very kindly donated a fantastic sum of £100:00 to the team for allowing them the possibility to fulfil a dream on their wedding day.
The whole team membership would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Greg and Sophie on their nuptials and to wish them all the very best for the future.
