This evening very long serving Team call Out list members Chris Tennant and Dave Marsh (Also a former SARDA Dog Handler) visited St Cuthbert’s Mothers Union, at St Cuthbert’s Church, Earnsdale Road, Darwen, to give a presentation on the work of the team and to display one of our Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulances and the comprehensive search and rescue equipment it carries.
They were warmly welcomed by all the members of the Mothers Union present, who by all accounts plied them with tea and cakes throughout their visit and then ended the night by making a very kind £31.00 donation to the team.
Present as a Mothers Union member at the visit was Jill Gibson, the mother of Amber Gibson, who when Rose Queen of the same St Cuthbert’s Church, in July 2010, as a 14 year old, raised £707.50p for the Bolton MRT, and the same amount for the RNLI Blackpool. (See website ’news’ reports dated Thursday 1st July 2010, Sunday 23rd May 2010, Tuesday 16th February 2010 and Tuesday 15th September 2009)
Teenager Megan Brandon, St Cuthbert’s Church Rose Queen for 2010 – 2011, also chose the team to support in her Rose Queen year, raising £509.00 (and the same amount for the North West Air Ambulance)
Megan was actually rescued by the Bolton MRT, when as a ten year old, she suffered a collapse on the moors above Roddlesworth, leading to the team, the North West Air Ambulance and the Ambulance Service all coming to her aid. (See website ’news’ items Wednesday 28th September 2011 and Incident 29 / 2007, Sunday 28th January 2007)
As our readers will see from the above we have a great many valued friends and supporters at St Cuthbert’s Church, Earnsdale Road, Darwen.
