This evening, commencing at 20.00hrs, the teams weekly Wednesday exercise saw members assembling on the moorland track of Georges Lane, just beyond Pike Cottage, to take part in a casualty exercise on the steep slopes of Rivington Pike.
Organised by our Training Officer Alistair Greenough, the scenario was of two persons who had had an altercation, with both suffering gunshot wounds, one to his leg, and the other sustaining a ‘sucking’ chest injury.
The team members present, who had arrived in our four Land Rover Defender Mountain Rescue Ambulances, were faced with a triage and treatment exercise, followed by a stretcher evacuation back to our vehicles.
Co-ordinating the exercise, from our Incident Control Vehicle were team members Mark Scott and Jess Ellsmore, with twenty one other members committed to rescue exercise.
All concluded by circa 21.45hrs, with thanks to Robert Melia and Chris Jones, who kindly acted out the role of exercise casualties for us.
Both Robert and Chris are interested in joining the operational membership of the team, and although we are not currently recruiting, their involvement this evening has given them an initial insight in to the work and role of the team (Chris also carried out a similar role on Saturday 10th October 2015 on our Foundation Course weekend) and further sparked their interest in ultimately joining the Bolton MRT operational team membership.
Whilst their colleagues were on this exercise, our Team Treasurer Martin Banks, was yet again ‘balancing our books’ at our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ this same evening, whilst our webmaster Paul Brain was also at our Base / HQ, adding photographs to our comprehensive website report on the recent Foundation Course weekend.
A busy night all round, following on from the visits of Mr Len Charles and his two daughters, and the three members of the Rounders Section of Blackrod Cricket Club (Ladies)
