After a late finish training on Wednesday night. Bolton Mountain Rescue Team set off the following morning to Victoria square, in front of Bolton Town Hall, to represent the team at the annual Bolton Council “Get ready for winter” event.
Most of the emergency services involved with keeping the public safe and warm during the winter months were represented including:
• Greater Manchester Police
• Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service
• North West 4×4 Response
• Council gritting services (With a competition to name a new gritter)
• Salvation Army (Who provided free hot drinks!)
• And of course Bolton Mountain Rescue Team
Along with many others.
The exhibits were assembled on a wet & windy morning. We were glad of the canopy on our BM6 control vehicle which kept the rain off us and our visitors.

Both breakfast & lunch for team members were kindly provided in Bolton library.
The Mayor of Bolton Cllr Carole Swarbrick opened the event with a special mention of our team’s services. Talking to Martin Battersby later, Cllr Swarbrick mentioned the visit of the High Sherriff who has, following her visit to our HQ at recommended us for a special award. (No doubt details to follow)
A total of £50.08 was collected for Bolton MRT during a most successful and enjoyable day for the people of Bolton.
